Opel gt 2.0 turbo review năm 2024

One day I honked the horn and it stuck on, causing much embarrassment until I could get it disconnected.

The outside rear view mirror fell off.

This car was very prone to rust.

With all that said, I received lots of comments and it was a cute little bugger. The cutest car I ever hated.

Would you buy another car from this manufacturer? No

1969 Opel GT 1.9 from North America

Summary:

Cool little affordable collectors sports car, which is rare

Faults:

The headlights sometimes break free from their mounts.

It is designed to run on leaded fuel, so it pings quite a bit.

The exhaust and body are not just prone to rust, but actually have some sort of mystical power to attract it.

Replacing the battery is nearly impossible.

General Comments:

Great little collector car that can be bought at a good price.

Find one without a crease or dent near the front hood scoops, and it's rare.

Handles relatively well - albeit slow and sloppy compared to the newer cars out there.

Considered rare.

Great looks. Take off the Opel labels and slap on some Ferrari labels, paint it red and inside make it black, and those who don't know too much will believe you are in a Ferrari.

When it comes to German automakers, Opel (now a subsidiary of Stellantis) may be a relative unknown, but that doesn't mean they haven't put out some impressive vehicles throughout their history. The star of today is the legendary 2007 Opel GT, but before we tell you why we love it, let's discuss its origins. Actually, the Opel GT was produced in two generations.

The first-generation 1968 Opel GT was a two-seater sports automobile built by Opel, a German automaker that was acquired by General Motors in the late 1920s. The original GT was based on an existing Opel car. Production of the first-generation Opel GT came to an end in 1973, and it would be 34 years before its successor of sorts debuted. This is where the 2007 Opel GT comes in. The second-generation Opel GT was manufactured from 2007 to 2010.

Clare MacKichan, the GT's designer, also worked on the 1955 Chevrolet Bel Air, the 1960 Corvair and various Corvettes of the '50s and '60s. So, the resemblance to other GM cars of the time isn't a fluke. Moreover, since it also looks so much like the third-generation Chevrolet Corvette, the first-gen Opel GT is commonly known as the "Baby Corvette."

Stylish And Speedy, The 2007 Opel GT Is A Winner

The 2007 Opel GT is essentially a badge-engineered derivative of the Pontiac Solstice and Saturn Sky. The Opel GT, the Pontiac Solstice, and the Saturn Sky were all developed in the United States and used the same chassis. Unlike the other two which had a 2.4-liter, 177-hp inline four engine on their base trims and a turbocharged, direct-injected, 2.0-liter, 260-horsepower "Ecotec" inline four in their upper trim levels, the Opel GT only came with that more potent engine.

In addition to looking fast, the 2007 Opel GT really accelerates quickly. Its front-mounted turbocharged engine sends the roadster from a stop to 62 mph in less than six seconds, and on to a peak speed of 142 miles per hour. You could also tell the 2007 Opel GT was a fast car by its lengthy air vents, dual exhaust system, and twin hood vents.

The five-spoke 18-inch aluminum wheels and the fabric roof, which hides under a cover for open-top driving, accentuate the roadster spirit of the car. The weight distribution of this rear-drive, front-engine vehicle is excellent. With its beefy tires and sport suspension, it's also a car with superb handling characteristics.

Visually, the legendary 2007 Opel GT is all about the long hood and small overhangs that are typical of a roadster. Aggressive lines were used in the design to develop a unique appearance. The sweep of the fender, together with chrome rimmed vents and strong headlights, occupies the front end. The outside panels, meanwhile, transition into a sleek dashboard design.

The 2007 Opel GT Is Distinguished By Its Rigid Structure

A roadster architecture was used from the beginning to develop the new 2007 two-seater. The car structure is made up of hydro-formed side members and a drawn sheet steel central tube that offers a stable foundation. The 2007 Opel GT was also fitted with anti-lock brakes, traction control, and an electronic stability system for further safety. Both the ESP and the TC could be turned off completely.

When it was first shown, the new Opel GT proved that the brand was interested in making aggressive cars. The 2007 Opel GT, based on the Vauxhall VX Lightning concept from 2003, drew a lot of attention.

In addition to the handsome styling, the engine of the Opel GT is great. It has a broad spread of power that makes for a very spirited drive. The roadster was built from the start to suit the needs of a two-seat, open-top sports car without making any sacrifices. The one criticism is the lack of storage space within the cockpit, not entirely unexpected in a close-coupled, compact sports car.

The legendary Opel GT became the first automobile in Europe to go into production after being unveiled to the world as a concept vehicle in 1968. In many ways, the 2007 GT's tale is similar to that of its predecessor, the original GT, as it paved the way for future Opel sports cars. Most importantly, the 2007 Opel GT exemplifies the contemporary notion of a sporty two-seater.
