Jonsbo cr-1400 review

Top positive review

4.0 out of 5 starsGood for the price, not the best but good enough

It's small for an air cooler. The plastic the fan is made out of is hard and noisy giving off a slight ringing noise like a bell. Just a faint noise that I barely noticed. Other than the fan noise and small size it seems to be perfect for what it is.

It's definitely smaller than what I was expecting but the description says 92mm so I should have known.

3.0 out of 5 starsHard to tight 2 screws. Low temperature

Used with AM4 socket, 2 screws from the back, are so dificult to tight them and the heatsink suffer a little damage. Overal the temperature for a Ryzen 5 5500 is great, super low. RBG can't be controled by the motherboard.

In the months that I've been using it I haven't been able to control the RGB lights, but that hasn't bothered me much because it's just sitting under my desk. The noise level isn't not bad, but it's again as you'd expect from a cheaper end CPU cooler

Very simple installation into Vostro 230 Mini Tower to cool Xeon X5460 120 TDP CPU. Plenty of room from the side of the case. This bolted directly into the existing CPU backplate on the motherboard. No need to take it off and put on the backplate supplied. It is very quiet compared to the stock cooler. It did not need a fan adapter to allow the system to boot without hitting F1. This is a plug and play item.

The product arrived ahead of scheduled. But only problem I had was that it don't provide a back plate for AMD. It does come with Intel back plate. I was previously using a water cooling system and didn't have the original AMD back plate. I manage a hack with my current back plate, but would be nice to have there own back plate for both Intel and AMD. Overall it does keep the system cool enough.

Keeping my Ryzen 9 cool under load.
The RGB lighting is a nice touch. Not over powering.

Lighting effects are unchangeable (unless there’s some 3rd party software for it in which you’d have to plug your cable into an rgb header. Depending on your setup, that may be easier to accomplish.) Keeps it around 34°C when idle. Reaches a max of like 70°C depending on what’s happening. So it definitely does what it’s supposed to do. Design is what it is. Comes with a good enough fan. It’s cheap. Feels cheap. But it works. Plus it has lights(even tho you can’t control them). No problem with clearances.

Is Jonsbo a good CPU cooler?

So far it works great. The install was a pain as the wire clips that good the fan to the radiator are a PITA to get back on once the radiator had been installed on the CPU. Other than that, this is a great fan and it does what is supposed to do, keep the CPU cool.
