Vivitar series 1 19 35mm review năm 2024

Needed an inexpensive wide angle zoom, this fit the bill. I trust Vivitar products and this one hasn't let me down yet. Takes 77mm filters. Note: This lens is a true ultra-wide angle lens, and as such image quality will suffer if used with standard, inexpensive filters. When using filters, spend the extra money and get one of the ultra-thin models from Hoya or similar. Otherwise you will notice rounding at the corners on shots taken at 19mm caused by the overhang of the filters getting the way of the shot (called "vignetting"). Makes a neat effect if intentional, but can mess up your shot if not.

The Vivitar Series 1 19-35mm f/3.5-4.5 MC is a standard zoom lens for major 35 mm DSLR autofocus cameras.

This is quite a decent lens. It produces excellent results on crop cameras. From f/3.5 on it is extremely sharp. In side lighting the lens is susceptible to flare. It is recommended to use a hood (which is often included). In the Internet the lens has been nicknamed "plastic fantastic".

Alternatives? Lots of them, but on FF you can also use APS-C zooms and accept the vignetting at the wide end. Despite the distortion, this lens actually has much less distortion than you get with most add-on adapters, and is much shorter and lighter than lens+adapter too, so it's really quite usable. I will happily stick it on a film camera as my only main lens and partner it with the lighter of the Minolta 70-210mm lenses and the 50mm f1.7.

positive:- similar colors to sony/minolta lens - usable sharpness - inexpensivenegative:- loud focus ring - front element rotates with focus - 77mm filters (expensive)comment:In a quick summary, this is a good lens if you don't already have the kit lens. There's really no point in purchasing this lens if you already have the kit lens. It's not wider, it's got less range, it's not any sharper, chromatic aberration (CA) is the same, and filters are more expensive. it doesn't perform any better but it doesn't perform worse.

I also had the chance to compare this lens to a Tamron 19-35 3.5-4.5. personally I prefer the Tamron. The lens are very similar, same size, weight, etc. but the Tamron has a fixed front element when focusing, it comes with a nice petal style hood, and the focus is smoother and not quite as loud. with that said, the colors on the Vivitar is better than the Tamron. And sharpness in the middle was also a bit better at wide open. It's the same otherwise.

buy it if you need a 'kit lens', splurge for the Tamron 17-50 f/2.8 DI (digital only) if you can.

positive:Competent performance over the whole zoom rangenegative:Feels cheaply made. Filters cause vignetting (on film cameras)comment:I've had this lens for 5 years and it has provided excellent service on my 505si and Dynax 7 (film) cameras. This would have been my main lens for the new 5D, except that the 18-70 kit lens came "free".

This lens has often been slagged off in reviews because of its "plasticky" feel and loose construction. This is unfortunate because it actually a competent performer and excellent value for money.

Photodo gives it an MTF average of 2.9 which is as good as, or better, than many consumer zooms and kit lenses.

When did Vivitar Series 1 come out?

In 1975 Vivitar introduced the "Series 1" line of lenses. They were intended to compete with the best offerings of the major camera manufacturers, albeit at a very high price -- they were quite expensive even by OEM standards.
