Feeling a bit nostalgic about AsNTM because I found all season 1 episodes and started rewatching it and truly fell in love again. The show started really SO WELL. The editing + photoshoots + the girl despite being weaker modeling-wise were a fun group overall. It is uncertain if we get season 7 in any near future and it is kind of sad for this franchise to end so abruptly without any official announcement. But I also LOVE LOVE 1, 5, and 6 (cuz we had Jach and Beauty there). 4 and 6 has the best cast look-wise, with 1 just behind them. I'm probably a bad judge with entertainment but I liked 2 and 4 for that matter. On top of my head (I prolly dont remember the others) Fave girls look-wise WHILE ON THE SHOW: Beauty, Jach, Tawan, Alaiza, Sang In, GANI, Sheena. Both C1 and C4 seems very generic to me when it comes to editing but I have a special place in my heart for C1 as it does feel like raw competition. C3 is jank and meh overall I couldn't care less with C6 for how it looks like a gift of the winner's father to her that he brought. And while I'm at the winner's rant, Is she working at all? Did she even do something in London? I didn't follow her so I don't know her post show work Blue Belle Mar 1 2020, 05:00:52 AM Location: Status: Offline Awards: None Cycle 6 is a mess in many terms such as photoshoot, drama, entertainment, elimination order, winner; but at least we got to see Beauty & Jach (also Pim) I wasn't a fan of Mia during her run in Austria C7 but I like her a lot in this cycle. I find myself enjoying Cycle 4 and 5 very much. Cycle 5 has many iconic contestants; Clara, Tu, Dorothy, evil twins vs Nametha, Xiao Qing( Also enjoying Cycle 1 where many countries participated with only 1 or 2 rep for each country. The photoshoots also were nice too. Cycle 2 is kinda weak but they hit it with the bang with Sheena and Jodilly Top2 (although personally I like to see Marie/Josephine stay longer). JANICE THOUGH, ICONIC Cycle 3 has stupid dramas I like all 3 hosts, especially Cindy. Don't like Yu Tsai (and Ramos) at all and feel like the cycles would be better without him. Kelly also great, wonder why she left so soon. And I still can't believe we don't get many reps from China - one of the top Asian model market in the world. We have Bei Si and Jessie - both weak and then that's it. I mean it's good to see reps from SEA but 3 Phil reps and 2-3 Thai reps? No, just no. I refuse to believe we don't have better reps from other SEA/ East Asia/ Middle East countries. The photoshoot could've been wayyy better. South East Asia is famous for their scenery, and the only time they make use of it was cycle 2, which is totally disappointing. If they worry about budget, just come to Vietnam. It's cheap and Korea NTM has produced sick photoshoots there. Even Poland NTM did something relatively good there (just forget about the monkey one, that was tragic Having said that, I want to see a few more cycles of Asia NTM. No offence to her but her win was total random. All winner have their moment during their respective cycle (Jess crushed it in the later half, Sheena in the missing ep and the final ep, Gani in cover try and final ep, Tawan in Subaru ep and her cute moments during judging, Maureen in her Maybeline, Bondage shoot & finale runway) but Dana doesnt have her moment at all, even in her FCO episode. And even when we only consider her performance in the finale, it was obvious that Mia and Adela outdid her. So yeah... I watched C6 and I thought it got so boring after Jesslyn got eliminated. I felt like so many girls were so pedestrian and boring. I'm not even Asian and I see girls like Amelia, Mia and especially Dana every day. Beauty was sooooo gorgeous, but she was so derpy as a model. Dana was Jourdan (ANTM C20) levels of uninspiring imo. In a super pedestrian and uninspiring top 3 she was the least interesting. And yeah all that story about her dad being uber rich sounds shady af. I'm so interested in seeing the cycles with Clara and Tu. Tu was one of my favorite things about C6. King Aug 2 2020, 11:55:26 PM Location: The Wolverine State Status: Offline Awards: None Cycle 2 will forever remain my favorite AsNTM cause of all the memes (Subaroooo) and the constant fan wars with the Filipinos doing the most to fan the flames <3 But it was also because it had imho the best balanced cast and winner throughout all the seasons (Sheena was just incredible) and good amount of drama. Seasons 1 and Seasons 4 were also excellent. 3 and 5 were kinda okay but the worst was definitely Season 6. A complete contrast to Cycle 2 which really celebrated the overall collective of Asian fashion and culture. Season 6 was like the Wonder Bread version of previous cycles right up to the Final 3. :/ I doubt we'll get Season 7 until COVID is taken care of and even then it may not be possible if they can't get girls from all across Asia who don't speak good English. |
