1 – Định nghĩa:
Cụm trạng từ chỉ tần suất là một nhóm các từ đi cùng nhau để miêu tả mức độ thường xuyên xảy ra của một sự việc nào đó.
Ví dụ:
Mary goes jogging once a week.[Mary chạy bộ một lần một tuần.]
Mr.
Robinson goes to the park three times a week.[Ông Robinson đi tới công viên ba lần một tuần.]
2 – Cấu tạo:
a/ Cụm trạng từ miêu tả số lần hành động xảy ra trong 1 khoảng thời gian nhất định
từ chỉ số lần + a + từ chỉ khoảng thời gian [day/ week/ month/ year …]
Ví dụ:
once a day[mỗi ngày 1 lần]
once a week[mỗi tuần 1 lần]
twice a day[hai lần một
ngày]
twice a week[hai lần một tuần]
Lưu ý: Muốn nói từ 3 lần trở lên: số lần + times + a + khoảng thời gian.
Ví dụ: three times a
week[ba lần một tuần]
b/ Cụm trạng từ bắt đầu bằng “every”
every + các buổi trong ngày/ các danh từ chỉ ngày, tuần, tháng, năm
Ví dụ:
every morning[mỗi
sáng]
every day[hàng ngày]
every week[hàng tuần]
every month[hàng
tháng]
every year[hàng năm]
c/ Cụm trạng từ bắt đầu bằng “on”
on + danh từ chỉ các ngày trong tuần ở dạng số nhiều
Ví dụ:
On Sundays[vào các ngày chủ nhật]
= every Sunday
Các em ghi nhớ, sau “every” là danh từ số ít còn sau “on” là danh từ số nhiều
3 – Vị trí:
- Các cụm trạng từ đều có thể đứng ở vị trí đầu hoặc cuối câu, tuy nhiên vị trí cuối câu là phổ biến hơn.
- Khi đứng ở đầu câu, cụm trạng từ chỉ tần suất được ngăn cách với các thành phần còn lại
của câu bằng dấu phẩy và khi đó ý nghĩa của nó được nhấn mạnh hơn.
Ví dụ:
On Fridays, Ms. Smith plays badminton.[Cô Smith chơi cầu lông vào các ngày thứ 6.]
4 – Câu hỏi với “How often”
Để hỏi về mức độ thường xuyên của hành động, ta sử dụng cấu trúc:
Câu hỏi: How often + do/ does + chủ
ngữ + động từ?
Trả lời: Chủ ngữ + động từ + cụm trạng từ chỉ tần suất.
Ví dụ:
How often do you go to school?[Các cậu có thường xuyên đến trường không?]
