Inhaltsstoffe Aqua (purified water), homosalate, diethylamino hydroxybenzoyl hexyl benzoate, ethylhexyl methoxycinnamate, silica, ethylhexyl stearate, niacinamide, glycerin, dicaprylyl carbonate, beheneth-25, bis-ethylhexyloxyphenol methoxyphenyl triazine, corn starch modified, cyclopentasiloxane, dibutyl adipate, glyceryl stearate, PEG-100 stearate, ethylhexyl triazone, gluconolactone, salicylic acid, saccharide isomerate, sarcosine, tocopherol, tocopheryl acetate, 1,2-hexanediol, ammonium acryloyldimethyltaurate/vp copolymer, butylene glycol, citric acid, pentylene glycol, sodium citrate, sodium hydroxide, xanthan gum, parfum (fragrance)

This sunscreen works for oily/comabination skin types as it leaves a dry finish , specially during the summer it leaves you almost shine free for few hours unlike a lot of other sunscreens

We believe that "SVR - SEBIACLEAR Crème SPF50" can provide reliable sun protection based on the ingredients listed. We love that it can protect from both UVA and UVB rays (not all sunscreens with SPF ratings give UVA protection. UVA rays do not cause sunburn, but still damage our skin and lead to early aging).

Its formula is also hydrating, so you might not need an additional moistruizer during the day. Like all broad-spectrum sunscreens, this product has an anti-aging benefit.

Sunscreen filters

This is a so-called "chemical" sunscreen. It means that it uses organic UV filters. They typically offer good sun protection and rarely leave a white cast, but they can be irritating for some people with sensitive skin. The UV filters in this sunscreen are: tinosorb s 1.10% - 1.30%, uvinul a plus 4.50% - 5.40%, octinoxate 3.50% - 4.30%, uvinul t 0.55% - 0.85% and homosalate 5.90% - 7.20%.

Irritation risk

This formulation includes some common irritants, including ingredients that do not provide a benefit for the skin. We assess the overall irritancy of it to be medium. For a detailed overview of all potential irritants:

You can see the detailed formula review with the breakdown of all actives in the product and the full ingredient list with estimated concentrations in the tables below.

As I mentioned before I am a firm believer in protecting your skin from sun damage, especially if you use any chemical exfoliants (acids, retinol, reti-a…). The sun is unfurtonaly the number one enemy of our skin. It dries our skin out, it depletes the natural supply of oils, the UV rays can cause long-term changes in skin structure.

Photoaging is for me, the thing I want to avoid at any cost. It essentially ages your skin prematurely, causes wrinkles and fine lines and in the worst case it can damage fragile blood vessels beneath the skin surface, because of the changes in the collagen structures.

I take my skin care very seriously and I invest a good amount of my hard earned money in products I believe in….so for me it would be a contraindication to not protect my skin from the sun, because all my money and years of looking after my skin would go to waste…WHY BUY EXPENSIVE SKINCARE AND THEN GO OUT FRYING YOUR SKIN IN THE SUN? But that is just my philosophy.

I have always used french pharmacy brand spf creams, because I think they make one of the best formulated products on the market and if you live in Europe, you can get them quite reasonable priced. They use a variable of different UVA and UVB filters and I NEVER had any issues with burning or not holding up to what they promised. I will not go into detail about different UVA and UVB filters…it is not what I have an issue with and honestly I don’t know much about them…it is something you have to decide for yourself. I preferably use chemical filters because they don’t leave a white cast on your face, but if your skin is sensitive or atopic you should be better off with mineral based sunscreens.

Now on to the review…SVR is a french skin care brand, that I have first encountered a few years back…I don’t really remember what exactly I used, i think it was probably just a standard day moisturizer. Since then they have launched new products and completely changed the look of their brand ….and I was intrigued. I decided to try the SPF 50 cream for oily skin with imperfections, which is a part of the Sebiaclear line. Now, I don’t usually buy products which are formulated for oily or acne prone skin, because I don’t have those issues, but when it comes to SPF products I find that they work better for me, if they are formulated for oily skins and I still have a fear of breakouts, because when I was in my teenage years I remember those greasy, thick spf creams that always caused breakouts on my face…this fear stayed with me, although nowadays the formulations have changed so much and you can get SPF creams just for the face that don’t cause breakouts and are not as greasy as they once were.

The cream comes in a 50ml tube and is a pale yellow color. The consistency is thick and you would think it will be hard to spread on your face, but it is not. Once applied on your face, it spreads easily and absorbs quick. It leaves the skin feeling fresh and just a little bit shiny and on my face it does not feel heavy at all. The scent is fresh, to me it smells fruity, but not overpowering.

Make up applies wonderful over it, I never had any issues in that department. Sometimes SPF creams, although formulated for oily skin can ball up under make up, but not this one. It states that it has a dry feel to the face and I can say it has, but in a good way. Many of those new dry touch sunscreens drag your skin, when you are trying to spread them across your face, not this one. To me it feels like a normal moisturizer. My face does not get super shiny during the day and most sunscreens, even if they are formulated for oily skin, make me extremely oily after 4-6 hours. I would recommend this sunscreen to all skin types except dry and sensitive skin.

On the package it says it contains GLUCONOLACTONE, which is an antioxidant that attracts water, therefore it enhances the degree of moisturization. It may also function by scavenging free radicals, thereby protecting skin from some of the damaging effects of UV radiation (according to a study featured in Dermatologic Surgery journal). It also contains 4% NIACINAMIDE, which is actually vitamin B3 and is a potent cell-communicating ingredient that offers multiple benefits for aging skin and can improve skin’s elasticity, dramatically enhance its barrier function, help erase discolorations, and revive skin’s healthy tone and texture (see Paula`s choice web site). In the ingredients list you can also find SALICYLIC ACID, which I am always pleased to see, as it helps to clean out your pores.

I have to say I am really impressed by this product. I will definitely re-buy it. I go thru sunscreens like nobodys business, because I always apply the right amount, which is a teaspoon for your face and neck. If I am walking the dog after work, I make sure I re-apply it before. I am very concerned about the longevity of the protection. If your on the beach it is no problem, because you don’t wear make up, so you can re-apply. But when you wear make up, it can be tricky. I have read that the protection decreases with the level of sun exposure…so if you spend most of the day in inside, the level of protection should not be compromised, but if you are walking in the sun for most of your day, you should re-apply every 2 hours.

Is SVR cream good?

As a preventive cream, it kind of works fairly well. It is not very harsh and does not dry up the skin. As a spot treatment, it is not very effective. As a preventive cream, it kind of works fairly well.

Is SVR sunscreen good for acne prone skin?

Highly concentrated in gluconolactone, niacinamide + salicylic acid for a clearer complexion in 7 days. Very high sun protection for sensitive, combination to oily skin prone to acne, imperfections + marks.
