Have you looked at the Athlon Argos BTR 6-24x50 - APMR FFP IR MIL, for only $269.99?

  • First Focal Plane Reticle: First focal plane design allows you to fully utilize specially designed reticles that shrink or grow along with your target as you zoom in or out. These reticles offer quick target engagement at low power while offering precise holdover positions with finer details.
  • Illuminated Reticle: The illuminated reticle provides greater visibility during dusk and dawn and other low ambient light environment.
  • Etched Glass Reticle: Reticle etched on the glass that provides excellent backing support for complex reticle design and offers great durability and much higher shock resistance to recoil
  • Fully Multicoated: Fully Multicoated optics effectively reduces reflected light and increases the transmission of light giving you a brighter image than normal single coated lenses
  • 6061 T6 Aluminum: The 6061T6 aircraft grade aluminum tube that has exceptional strength and superior mechanical integrity will protect these world class optics no matter what punishment you throw at it.
  • Heat Treated One Piece Tube Construction: Heat treated one piece tube gives the scope extra strength over multi-piece tubes. A one piece tube also is better at keeping moisture out thus keeping your scope fog proof for the life of the product
  • Waterproof: Waterproof to protect the scope in the harshest weather conditions or if accidentally submerged underwater
  • Fog proof: Fog proof to allow you to immediately engage your target when you take your rifle to cold ambient temperature from warm inside
  • Shockproof: Robust mechanical system with special designs on both control and erector system that give you the ultimate recoil resistance to withstand 1000G recoil for 1000 times.
  • Argon Purged: Argon Purging uses the inertia gas with bigger size molecules to purge any moisture out of the tube giving you better waterproofing and thermal stability.

Just like the original 1-6x, this new Strike Eagle model is bringing a lot to the table at a price most can afford.

Second Focal Plane, illuminated reticle that is useful without appearing too "busy". Brightest setting seems daylight visible in the conditions I have had it out in.

Side focus from 20yds to inf and 80 MOA of adjustment really help this scope perform at longer distances.

Minimal distortion at higher magnifications but still a very usable image which is often the concern with high magnification and lower price points.

I mounted this on a .308 AR and have used it out to about 400 yds but it would be just at home on a chassis bolt gun or most other platforms.

A first focal plane model would be something I want to see Vortex add.

Most Helpful Positive Review Great scope

Guys who dont like this scope can pound sand and are probably a member of a 6.5 creedmore moose hunting club. On sale for 299? How can you beat that? Turrets are fine, glass is clear, everything a little stiff till you wear it in. It's alot of scope for the money. And guess what it can do everything... Read More...

Most Helpful Negative Review looks like a ferrari performance of a honda

This scope looks great with decent glass that is pretty clear. It came with a sun shade and a cleaning cloth. I gave it 3 stars because the turrets are mushy and the side focus knob has no markings. If your a beginner this would be a great scope, but if your knowledgeable and trying to cut corners o... Read More...

2 weeks ago I was at the range shooting my big game rifle and had shot a 3 shot group. When adjusting the parallex knob, I noticed that the illumination dial didn't look right and was ready to fall off. I immediately contacted Vortex customer care and talked to Kate Frost. She was on it! My scope was on its way for repairs within an hour and I received it back as good as new, in less than a week! Thats the way you take care of your customers!! First class service, customer for life.

Pros:

  • Best warranty in the business

Cons:

  • Same as my other review

Best Used for:

  • hunting and target mid to long range

Put this scope on an older rifle that I didn’t expect much from in terms of accuracy. Very impressed, for the price getting a scope that was originally probably 800 dollars was well worth it. Shooting great groups with confidence from a rifle I didn’t think could do it, and banged it around for a week on a deer hunt before making one perfect shot to get one. Recommend this scope if you need something that can make your shot count within reasonable yardage.

I bought this for my new rifle and have been really impressed with how clear the optics are. The zoom is more than enough. My friend shot my rifle the other day and was amazed at how nice the scope was

Great Scope

Love this scope. Glass is very clear. The side parallax focus delivers a clear image. I couldn't find any negatives. Reticle is not too busy and illumination is excellent. Highly recommend. I have the 1-8 Strike Eagle on my scorpion, which is also excellent and wouldn't have really benefitted spending any more money.

Heck of a deal

Very nice scope, does everything I need it to do at an unbelievable price. Glad I got one before they sell out.If there are any available don't mess around buy one or two. Awesome scope.Wish it had a zero stop but I can live with that. Also this is a big scope (heavy) so if you already have a heavy rifle take this into account.

Pros:

  • Clear optics, awesome tracking, does what it is supposed to

Best Used for:

  • Target, hunting, recreational shooting

It is great glass for the price!I have numerous other vortex products and the warranty is fantastic. This scope seems to hold a zero even in rough conditions with multiple elevation and windage adjustments. Drops back to center each time. Very happy with my purchase.

Very useful reticle. Clear glass. Eye relief critical at higher powers. Great scope for the price. The 6x zoom makes the scope useful for both hunting and long range target shooting. Well worth the wait.

Still waiting.......

by Chill, Verified Owner from OK, United States Written on January 22, 2019

I have been on the waitlist for this scope since March 2018. What’s the deal? Anybody else having the same issue? I was told I was in the 30’s for the last fulfillment order. Is this optic in demand or what? I can’t wait to test it out if it ever magically becomes in stock. This is the unicorn of optics.

Pros:

  • Seems like a potentially awesome optic.

Cons:

  • You might die of old age before you get one.....

Probably a great scope as others have testified to, but I ordered this scope from O/P on October 17, 2018 and have still not received it (01/20/2019)!!! Not O/P fault I guess but when I called Vortex directly recently, they said it may be March-April before I get it!!! They said they were overwhelmed with orders as they hadn’t expected the scope to sell that fast!

Has features found in much higher priced optics

Ok, one review stated it's a long wait, and that is true. IRS because this scope is really that good. I now own 2 of these and waiting for a 3rd. I'll give you my actual experience with this scope. Very bright and clear glass, a little fog at edges when using full magnification. Both scopes passed box test and ladder test with flying colors. I love the EBR-4 reticle. Makes windage adjustments easy at distance. Lit reticle great for low light shooting. Consistent adjustments up and down. I use this scope for PRS out to 1250 yards. This scope is as good as my $1000 scopes. No B.S. I feel sorry for the reviewer who opted for a Nikon... just not in the same realm.

How far can a 4 24x50 scope see?

Strike Eagle 4-24x50 Dimensions (in inches).

Does the Vortex Strike Eagle 4 24x50 have a zero stop?

Yes, the Vortex Strike Eagle 4-24x50 Rifle Scope features Windage and Elevation dials that allow you to reindex the zero indicator after sight-in without disturbing your settings.

Is the Vortex Strike Eagle worth it?

In my opinion, it is the best bang-for-your-buck long-range rifle scope that's out there. The performance outweighs the price by a long shot (pun intended). Of course, nothing is perfect. The only real con I found with the Strike Eagle is the fact that I didn't feel like it was a master of any one thing.

What is the effective range of the Vortex Strike Eagle?

LIFETIME WARRANTY. A true 1x on the low end, Strike Eagle zooms to let shooters rapidly engage targets near and far, and an AR-BDC3 reticle aids in rapid shooting while providing holdover and ranging references from 0-600 yards.
