I can't complete any missions because the game either freezes or crashes midway. I've been having this issue for years now.
- Downloading and installing the CnCNet YR client.
- I followed the guide on CNCNZ.com under "I have the Origin version from The Ultimate Collection" as well as the "Handling Red Alert 2 and Yuri's Revenge on Windows 8 / 8.1 / 10".
- Putting "ts-ddraw" or "DDrawCompat" or "ddwrapper" into my Red Alert 2 directory.
- Made sure "ForceDirectDrawEmulation" was set to 1 in "aqrit.cfg".
- Applied the C&C Graphics Patcher.
- The fix for Yuri's Revenge when the above didn't work and ran the game in "Compatibility mode" [for Windows 7], along with "Reduced Color Mode" and all other settings as shown in the post.
- I have also tried running in "Compatibility Mode" for Windows XP Service Pack 3, as suggested in another post.
- Set "SingleProcAffinity" to 1 in "aqrit.cfg".
- Added "VideoBackBuffer" to no underneath "[Video]" in the RA2.ini and RA2MD.ini [was already in the RA2MD.ini]. Adding this to RA2.ini stopped the game from even launching.

Disregard this post. I managed to go through it again and fix it.
Steps I took for anyone that has the same problem and gets confused by the many posts that give different steps:
- Download from Origin
- Launch game
- Download zip file from ddwrapper
- Extract and place "aqrit.cfg" and "ddraw.dll" into the Red Alert 2 directory
- Overwrite files if asked
- Open "aqrit.cfg" and set "ForceDirectDrawEmulation" to 1
- Launch game
- Download and install the CnCNet YR client
- Exit CnCNet YR client and launch Red Alert 2 normally through Origin
- Play

@Daevawolf So I’m confused did you fix it with the list you made? I have the same problem it keeps freezing mid game I can’t even play the story with out it freezing randomly

@Tiba1999 Yeah those are the exact steps [in order] I took when I managed to fix the game for myself. It allows me to play through the campaigns without any issues.

It's 2024 and I'm on Win 10 - the solution still works like a treat! Thank you! My opinion - It should have been patched by the team looking after the game [in order to ensure compatibility with latest Win OS versions].
