Lesson 1: Getting started
A. OBJECTIVES
1.Knowledge:
1.Grammar: - The present simple and the present continous
2.Vocabulary: - School lexical items
3.Pronunciation: - Sounds: /əʊ/, /ʌ/
2. Competences
- Be confident and friendly with the new school environment
- Develope listening, speaking skills and cooperative interaction
3. Quality: Students know to be acquainted with the new school environment.
B. TEACHING AIDS.
-Lesson plan, Pictures, posters , textbook, CD-MP3[Computer-Multi projector/cassette/ “sách mềm”] and other materials
- Textbook, notebook, school things.
C. PROCEDURE
1.WARM UP:
a. Goal: Introduce the lesson and the topic of the lesson.
b. Contents : Play game “Brain storming game” for the students

c. Expexted result: Ss can feel more interested in the theme “My new school”
d. Performance:
-Teacher divides class into groups Sun and Moon.
- Each member of two groups will write one name of school object in turn
- Teacher gives them 2 minutes to write.
Who writes more words correctly and faster will be the winner
2. PRESENTATION
a.Goal: Present Ss necessary lexical items related to the Topic: My new school
b. Contents: Ss master some vocabulary through the dialogue by listening and role playing
c. Expected result: Ss can use the lexical items exactly
d. Performance:

-Preteach Vocabulary:
Step 1: Transfering the learning task
- Teacher use the map to teach vocabulary
- Follow the seven steps of teaching vocab.

-Why is it a special day for them? [Why are they so happy?]
Step 1: Transfering the learning task
- T plays the recordings and asks sts to check their answer and give a correct answer about the CONTENTS of the text.
- T introduces the listening part: Today, we are going to hear a conversation among Phong, Vy and Duy between about their first day at the new school
Step 2: Performing the task
Ss pay attention
Ss take note the new words
Step 3: Discussion
Ss read the new words and answer the teacher's questions
Step 4: Conclusion
- He is having breakfast.
-They are Phong’s schoolmates.
- Because it is their fisrt day at the new school.

3. PRACTICE
a.Goal: Help Ss to practice the conversation and understand it
b. Contents: Ss PRACTICE the conversation in pairs and in front of the whole class. Ss do some tasks to understand the conversation.
c. Expected result: Ss can PRACTICE the conversation fluently. Ss understand the conversation.
d. Performance:

1. Listen and read
Step 1: Transfering the learning task
- Ask ss to listen and read the conversation.
Step 2: Performing the task
- Ask ss to read the conversation aloud in pairs.
Step 3: Discussion
- T calls some pairs to PRACTICE in front of the class.
Step 4: Conclusion
- T corrects and give feedback.

Step 1: Transfering the learning task
- T explain the strategies of doing True-False exercise to SS: Read each statement carefully, identify and underline the key words in the statements, locate the keywords or similar words in the text, and then evaluate if they are the same, or the opposites of the information in the given statements. If the information is the same, it’s True [T]. If it is opposites or different, it’s False [F]
- Ask ss to work independently to choose the correct answer to the questions, then share the answers with a partner.
- Ask ss to read aloud the answers.
Step 2: Performing the task
- Ss work individually to answer the questions
Step 3: Discussion
- Ss share their answer before discussing them in groups or as a class
Step 4: Conclusion
- T confirms the correct answers
4.PRODUCTION
a.Goal: To introduce some vocabulary related to the topic of the unit and introduce the grammar point of this unit: the present simple

b. Contents: Ss do the task.
c. Expected result: Ss can get a grasp of grammar and know the meaning of the new vocabulary

Step 1: Transfering the learning task
Ex 3:
- T may instruct Ss how to do do exercise; Read the sentences and identify the kind of word to fill the blank. T model with the first sentences
- Ask Ss to work independently to fill each blank with the right word
Ex 4:
-T ask Ss to match the words with the school things. Play the recording for Ss to listen
- Explain the meaning if necessary
Step 2: Performing the task
Ex 3:
-Ss listen to the techer and complete the exercise individually

- Ss compare their answers
- Report the result to the class
Step 4: Conclusion
- T checks the answer
Ex 5:
-T tells Ss to look around the class. Point to each students and ask what he/she sees/ has around him/her
Then let them practise the words, write them in the notebooks and make sentences with the words if there is time
