England MU21s' EURO draw made
Lee Carsley's Young Lions learn their opposition for next summer's EURO Finals in Romania and Georgia
England men's under-21s will face group opposition from Czech Republic, Germany and Israel at the 2023 UEFA U21 EURO Finals in Georgia and Romania next summer.
The draw was made in Bucharest on Monday evening, following the conclusion of the qualifying stage earlier this year, with 16 nations drawn out into four groups for the competition which takes place between 21 June and 8 July.
The Young Lions were drawn into Group C, with games likely to be played at the Batumi Arena and the Ramaz Shengelia Stadium in Kutaisi.
From there, the top two from each group will progress to the knockout stage with quarter-finals [1 and 2 July] and semi-finals [5 July] leading up to the final on Sunday 8 July 2023.
Lee Carsley's side secured their place at the Final stage after topping their qualifying group table once all fixtures had been completed in June, and it's the ninth successive campaign from which the Young Lions have reached the Finals.
They also have recent games with both Czech Republic and Germany to reflect on, with Carsley's team securing a 3-1 win over Germany at Bramall Lane last month while also facing the Czechs in their recent qualifying campaign, beating them 2-1 away in June and 3-1 at Burnley's Turf Moor in November 2021.
The tournament is due to be staged at four stadiums in Romania [two in Cluj-Napoca and two in Bucharest] and four stadiums in Georgia [one each in Batumi and Kutaisi, and two in Tbilisi]. The opening match will take place in Romania and the final will be held at Batumi Arena in Georgia.
More details on fixtures will be released in due course.
The other groups in the draw are as follows:-
Group A: Georgia, Portugal, Belgium, Netherlands
Group B: Romania, Spain, Ukraine, Croatia
Group C: Czech Republic, England, Germany, Israel
Group D: Norway, Switzerland, France, Italy
