Oppo f3 vs f3 plus review

While the F3 Plus costs Rs 30,990 on launch, the F3 has been launched at a price of Rs 19,990. But that is not the only difference between these two phones.

Oppo's new F3 is a mish-mash of the company's more expensive F3 Plus and the relatively more affordable F1S. The F3 shares all of its design elements and most of its hardware set with the F1S on the one hand, and knack for taking group and bokeh-effect selfies with the F1 Plus on the other. It's no surprise then that the F3 occupies a central position, vis-a-vis pricing, in Oppo's selfie-centric F-line-up.

  • The F3 doesn't look like the F3 Plus at all. Well, it does spiritually, but, on the face of it, the F3 is simply a recycled F1S. Boasting of a near full-metal unibody, the F3 comes with 2.5D glass on the front. Unlike the F1S, however, the Oppo F3 is protected by Corning's next-generation Gorilla Glass 5. The F3 also comes with the exact set of physical dimensions as the F1S. The phone, like most Oppo phones, has a front-mounted fingerprint scanner.
  • While the F3 Plus was a 6-inch phone, the F3 has a 5.5-inch display. The F3, just like the F3 Plus, comes with a 1080p screen resolution.
  • The Oppo F3 is powered by the same 1.5GHz octa-core MediaTek MT6750 processor clubbed with Mali-T860MP2 GPU as the F1S. It comes with 4 gigs of RAM and 64GB of internal memory which is further expandable by up to 128GB via a dedicated micro-SD card slot. The Oppo F3 Plus which comes with the Qualcomm Snapdragon 652 processor clocked at 1.96 GHz paired with the Adreno 510 GPU is a more powerful phone in comparison.
  • Both the phones run Android 6.0 Marshmallow-based ColorOS 3.0. Both the phones support dual-SIM, 4G LTE (VoLTE-ready) and USB OTG.
  • The F3 comes with two different slots for two different SIM cards and a separate slot for a micro-SD card. The F3 Plus, meanwhile, came with a hybrid slot for either two SIMs or one SIM and one micro-SD card.
  • While the Oppo F3 Plus was backed by a 4,000mAh battery the F3 comes with a smaller 3,200mAh battery inside.
  • While the F3 Plus came with a 16-megapixel camera on the rear with f/1.7 aperture, phase detection autofocus, OIS and dual-LED (dual tone) flash, the F3 has a humbler 13-megapixel rear-facing camera with f/2.2 aperture, phase detection autofocus and LED flash. It is actually the same rear camera as the one on-board the F1S.
  • On the front, the Oppo F3 - just like the F3 Plus -- comes with a dual camera system: 16-megapixel+8-megapixel. The dual front camera system is capable of shooting panorama photos. While one of the (16-megapixel) lens on the front is what you can call a standard lens, the other (8-megapixel) has a 120 degree wide-angle field of view for group selfies. The phone, in general, is capable of shooting 16-megapixel selfie photos. The 8-megapixel shooter (only) springs into action when you hit a dedicated Group Selfie mode option provided in the camera app. The F3, in addition, also uses smart recognition to detect when three or more people are in the frame and automatically switches to wide-angle mode for enhanced group selfies, according to Oppo.
  • The dual camera system on-board the Oppo F3 is also capable of shooting selfies with fancy bokeh effects. By default, it keeps your face in focus while blurring the background creating a shallow depth of field effect in photos. It is also possible to selectively focus and refocus your background/subject after clicking a shot. Similar to how it was in the case of the F3 as well.

On the face of it, the F3 uses the same front camera as the F1S, but, adds a second wide-angle sensor into the mix for group selfies.
