Early to bed and early to rise, makes a man healthy, wealthy and wise explanation

Good morning peeps, meditation done.

Quote for the Day:

“Early to bed and early to rise makes a man healthy, wealthy, and wise.”

Benjamin Franklin

Waking up early is a well known productivity method of rising early and consistently so as to be able to accomplish more during the day. This method has been recommended since antiquity and is recommended by a number of personal development gurus. The ancient Greek philosopher Aristotle said,

“It is well to be up before daybreak, for such habits contribute to health, wealth, and wisdom.”

History is full of great composers, writers, and thinkers who awoke early and created great works before others were out of bed.

Beethoven rose at dawn, composing all morning and finishing in the early afternoon, and was in bed at 10 p.m.

Victor Hugo wrote ‘Les Miserables’ on Guernsey in the Channel Islands, waking at dawn. He would start the day with coffee and two raw eggs, and then write until 11:00 a.m. standing at a small desk that overlooked the English Channel.

The architect, Frank Lloyd Wright, did his sketches between 4 and 7 o’clock in the morning, and spent the rest of the day in busy work, taking meetings, answering letters, and helping students. “I wake up around 4 a.m. My mind’s clear, so I get up and work for three or four hours,” he explained.

Maya Angelou recognised the benefits of waking early so they could create without distraction. Angelou woke up at 5:30 a.m., had coffee with her husband, and wrote from 7 a.m. to 2 p.m.

As a rule of thumb the people who are most productive in life go to bed early and get up early.

My online mentor Craig Ballantyne is the editor of www.earlytorise.com, and author of ‘The Perfect Day Formula’ in which he teaches people to create the perfect day for themselves to fulfil all their personal professional goals and enjoy quality time doing the things they love with friends and family.

Craig goes to bed and gets up at the same time 7 days per week (8 p.m. and 4 a.m.) He sticks to his diet, avoids caffeine after 1 p.m. and avoids alcohol within 3 hours of bedtime. He writes for at least 60 minutes first thing every morning.

He is the hardest working, most disciplined and productive person I have ever met.

I have learnt a lot off him and like Craig I practice what I preach. I go to bed at 10pm each evening and get up at 4:30am to meditate, write and practice yoga and all my key tasks for the day before most people have got out of bed.

This means I have smashed my day and tasks before breakfast and gives me much more freedom for the rest of the day.

Practicing yoga everyday for 10 years really helps me in all aspects of my life and not just my health.

The more I exercise and practice the stronger my breathing becomes and the more control of it I have.

The yoga poses and breathing teach me that if I control my breath I can control my mind. The pain and discomfort I feel in the awkward yoga poses, will go away if I breathe and stay calm. This mirrors situations in life which can seem impossible with no way out, but if you stay calm, focused and breathe then your head clears, the situation does not seem as bad as you first thought and you can see a way forward.

This is the basis of my Elysium Way Training System.

The Elysium Way enhances and enriches lives allowing you to reach your full potential physically, mentally and spiritually.

And one of the main components of the Elysium Way is practicing yoga.
