Charlotte tilbury scent of dream review năm 2024

One of my 2017 New Year’s resolutions is to up my perfume game. I love perfume, and even the simple act of spritzing some on makes me happy.

I’ll admit that I pretty much know next to nothing about perfume. All I know is that I “know what I like“. There aren’t many perfumes that I outright dislike actually [maybe Dior’s Poison – truly poisonous to my untrained nose], but after taking a long, hard look at my own little collection, it seems as if I’m very partial to singular note florals and heavy, spicy scents.

The first perfume that I’ve acquired in 2017 is Charlotte Tilbury’s Scent Of A Dream. I have to be honest here, I probably would have bought it for the bottle alone, it’s so gorgeous. Yes – I have done that in the past. Sigh.

Scent Of A Dream is unlike anything I’ve ever owned. When I heard that Charlotte Tilbury was releasing a namesake fragrance, I was expecting it to be sweet, a little spicy and sexy – the way I imagine Ms. Tilbury to be herself. This perfume is definitely “sexy”, but it ain’t “sweet” and definitely not cloying. Instead, here you have a perfume which is unique with its heady chypre notes, including jasmine, frankincense, and violet – my favourite.

While getting ready for a lunch date with my husband, I sprayed some on and delighted in the lemony-peachy top notes mixed with black pepper. The perfume also features heart notes of heavy hitters like jasmine, frankincense, tuberose and violet. Base notes include Fire Tree, patchouli and Ambroxan.

This is definitely the most “unusual” perfume in my collection. Throughout the day, I found the perfume changed a lot. Those lemony, fruity notes I noticed at first dried down to super heavy spicy scents of frankincense, woodiness and patchouli. Every now and then, I’d get whiffs of beautiful jasmine. This perfume also has a bit of a soapy, clean quality.

This scent reminds me of Old Hollywood Glamour – something Elizabeth Taylor or Lana Turner would have loved. That being said, Charlotte Tilbury had the perfume formulated after her own personal blend of essential oils she sourced from markets during her time living in Ibiza, which could explain the lemony brightness to the scent.

Now, the patchouli in the fragrance is quite heavy. I highly suggest that before purchasing, you test it out first. Patchouli is a personal favourite of mine, but I know that it can be a deal breaker for some. Scent Of A Dream also features “Ambroxan”, a base chemical used in many fragrances to create their long-lasting effect. In addition, Ambroxan has a salty, skin-like quality which I’d liken to the “scent” appeal of the hot, muscly guy working out at the gym, and a musky yet clean aroma. A truly fascinating perfume!

Charlotte Tilburys debut Eau de Parfum is multi-faceted and totally addictive - floral and feminine with a 'magical', pheremonic base, this scent is universally bespoke; adapting to your pheremones to optimise your natural allure. Joyful top notes of lemon, peach and black pepper effervesce above the sensual, 'fleurotic' heart [a stunning bouquet of tuberose, jasmine, frankincense, violet and patchouli], which thrums above the perfume's 'magic molecules' - hedione, Iso E Super and ambroxan - a tantalising trinity that make you irresistible. Created in collaboration with one of the world's most celebrated noses, this fuses perfumery tradition with 'futuristic' fragrance practises to create something timeless and completely individual; it's sexy, hypnotic and empowering - just like its supermodel muse, Kate Moss. The perfect finishing touch, just one spritz will inspire positivity and enhance your capacity to captivate... think of this as the key to attraction.
