If YouTube Music keeps crashing on your smart device, check out these fixes for a solution.

YouTube Music is Googles newest music offering to replace Google Play Music. But the app isnt always as stable as it could be. If youre experiencing crashing, buffering, or errors playing your music, read on for how to fix these problems.

YouTube Music Keeps Crashing Android

First try stopping YouTube Music completely and relaunching it. Sometimes all it takes is closing the app to fix any issues. If that doesnt work, you may want to uninstall the app. Sometimes files can get corrupted during updates and a fresh install is needed.

    1. Open the Google Play Store on your device.
    2. Tap the three-bars menu in the upper left.
    3. Press My Apps & Games and then find YouTube Music.
    4. Tap Uninstall and confirm to remove the app.
    5. Install the app and sign in again.

If YouTube Music keeps crashing after a fresh install, you should try clearing the cache. Clearing the cache can resolve any issues from files left on your smartphone.

    1. Tap and hold the YouTube Music icon on your home screen.
    2. Tap App Info to bring up the information settings.
    3. Press Clear Cache to remove any cached files.
    4. Restart the YouTube Music app to see if that fixes the issue.

If youre still experiencing crashes, you may need to check your device for updates. If you have an older smartphone [more than 4+ years old], it may be time to upgrade to a new version of Android.

YouTube Music Keeps Crashing iOS

There are only a handful of things we can do to diagnose YouTube Music crashes on iOS. The best thing you can do is restart your phone to see if that fixes the issue. If not, you can uninstall and reinstall the app to see if it stops crashing.

    1. Tap and hold down the YouTube Music icon on your home screen.
    2. Tap Delete then Delete App.
    3. Confirm you want to delete the app.
    4. Open the App Store and re-download YouTube Music.

Why Does YouTube Music Keep Pausing?

Buffering can cause YouTube Music to pause at the worst times. There are several reasons that YouTube Music may frequently be buffering. If you are on a mobile connection, you may not have enough bandwidth to stream music. In this case, try to download your music to your device for offline playback. Youll need a YouTube Music Premium subscription for that feature, though.

Prepaid mobile plans often come with speed caps that may limit the amount of music you can stream. If you have a prepaid mobile plan, downloading your favorite playlists may be the best option to avoid YouTube Music pausing while you listen to your favorite tracks. YouTube Music also only plays music in the background if you have a premium subscription.
