to Gmail-Users

Logged on to Gmail this morning and the font was huge and very bold. I
also had to scroll to the right to get to the end - Did they change
something, I pressed the older version button beside settings and
while still having a large font I dont have to scroll all the way to
the right. The fonts very bold tho. Everything was fine yesterday

Can anyone help ? Did Gmail change something

It sounds like the font size option of your browser was changed.Try setting that back to normal, and everything should be fixed.

Do you know how to change Browser font. Also make sure that this is just happening in g-mail. You may need to check your Labs!

Depends on the browser. For Firefox, open up "Options" and select the "Content" tab, and Fonts & Colors are in the middle. I forget for Internet Explorer, but it is almost certainly in "Internet Options" somewhere...

Try hitting ctrl-0 [while focused on the firefox window]. That will
reset Firefox to its default font size, which may fix the problem.

Try the Older Version option in the top right corner.  Sign off and then sign back in.

Im not shure for Firefox, however in IExplorer chose >Tools in the top
menu then at the bottom of the window that oppens youll see
a button >>Fonts , where you choose the size, color, type... of font.
I supose its the same or very similar in firefox.

But the problem, Miran, is that the font while composin a new mail just don´t change! I mean, only the colors do, but the face and the size don´t. I tried ctrl 0 and the front page [inbox] got back to normal font, without being bold, but on composin it´s just not working

I see that you are using the wonderful/awful [delete as appropriate]

faces.  So one thing that you could try is clicking on « Plain Text. You can then click on Rich formatting » to see if the text goes back to normal.

Ok, im a'shamed that i didnt see this be4. If the colors change but the size still doesnt, i have a 100% solution. It always works for me and im shure it will work for you and for everyone on every computer. Just write all the text, select the size, and if the letters - font is still to large, step back 3 meters - thats size 10, if it is still to large, go back another two meters, and youll have letters the size of 8.... Simple, isnt it...

When you go into Firefox's preferences, under the Content section, what size is selected for the font?

I think I haven´t explained myself well. The font not only does not get smaller but it also does not get bigger. it´s the same size and face. I cannot change the size or the face. All I can do is changin colours and highlights.

Well, from what I can see, your size is still the standard size, which again leads me to believe that your browser is displaying the font at a larger size than it is because of a preference that was set.  Double check your preferences in the content section, and make sure that the correct font size is selected.

Here´s my Firefox´options:

As default font: Arial and Size: 16
Then, when I click in "advanced":
Fonts for: Western
Proportional: San Serif  Size: 16
Serif: Times New Roman
San-serif: Arial
Monospace: Courier New Size: 13
Minumum font size: none

It´s marked the option "allow pages to choose their own fonts, instead of my selections above"

And the default character encoding is Western [ISO-8859-1]I have tried everything else and still the font is the same. =[

If you are using Firefox, on the top tabs, click on View, Zoom and try to decrease the font and see what happens?

I think that you need to explain in a bit more detail.

You said that the large text is only in the compose window?

How are you trying to change the font size, if you can explain in detail, we can perhaps follow what you are doing and see where the problem lies.

Yeah, Julie, I really think that I am not being able to express me well.

Ok, let´s start again. Sometime ago, I noticed that my gmail had changed. The font was bigger and bold [the left menu was bigger and bold and the description of the messagse in the inbox too]. I thought it would change, but it didn´t. I tried to change the fonts on the menu tools->option [I use Mozilla Firefox 3] but it didn´t work.

Then I found you guys.

Ryan told me to press ctrl 0 in order to reset Firefox to its default font size. The problem with gmail main page was over: the menu and the description of the messages [who sent them and their subject] were back to the normal size and face.

Now, the problem that remains: while I am composing a new e-mail. I have noticed that gmail provides some options of faces [san serif, serif, wide, narrow, comic sans ms, courier new, garamond, georgia, tahoma, trebuchet and verdana] and also some options of sizes [small, normal, large, huge]. However, I cannot make any change. Even if I choose "comic sans ms" for font face, nothing happens. The same happens when I try to change its size. Nothing happens, the font remains the same.

Everything else does work great [bold, italic, align...], the only problem is that I would like to change the face and the size and I don´t know why, I just can´t.

I hope I have explained better.

I´m sorry for any misunderstanding.

You guys have a great day and thanks for being so nice!

Have you tried switching to plain text [like this message], and then
perhaps even back to Rich formatting?

How do I stop my Gmail from changing fonts?

Change your default text style.
On your computer, open Gmail..
In the top right, click Settings. See all settings..
Scroll down to the "Default text style" section..
Change the text in the box to be the style you want for your emails..
At the bottom of the page, click Save Changes..

Why does my font change when I forward an email?

As I said that you may press Ctrl and scroll the mouse by mistake before and you didn't realize this. That's why the fonts will change when forwarding a message.

Why does my Gmail email look different?

Starting Tuesday, some people will see Gmail's new look by default, the company said in a blog post. However, there remains an opt-out option in the settings menu for people who prefer classic Gmail. The new Gmail view is also available in quick settings for people who aren't automatically switched over, Google said.

Why does Gmail format my emails weird?

This is known as "garbled text" and can be caused by the encoding used by the sender's email system. One workaround is to use the Message text garbled option within Gmail. When viewing a message click the down arrow next to Reply at the top-right of the message pane and select Message text garbled.
