Promises vs. Performance: With very little claims to meet, Etude House Big Cover Concealer impressed me.

Etude House Big Cover Concealer promises a “real skin fit, perfect flawless skin cover“. It features something called REAL SKIN-FIT Technique, which makes the layer of concealer thin as soon as it is applied on your face [interesting!]. It does claim a long lasting wear with pigments that keep makeup looking fresh all day. The concealer comes in nine shades that conceal and color correct. Etude House promises this will cover dark circles, redness, and blemishes, but no coverage claims were made.

My Review Thoughts: Etude House Big Cover Concealer bb

I started off slow with applying this concealer as the first swipe under my eyes showed me just how bright it is. I used two shades, Light Vanilla and Neutral Vanilla, but they were very similar in tone [both pretty light and very bright]. Using my Concealer Brush from Rare Beauty, it blended in with very little pressure and was easy. It gave me pretty instant full coverage without having to layer more product. The concealer doesn’t set down right away, giving plenty of playing time to blend in. Though, this makes me wonder if it’ll fully set down at all or if it will move around all day. Even with adding a setting powder on top, it still had a sticky, tacky feeling most of the day.

For how tacky of a finish this concealer had all day, it stayed in place pretty well and I had very little creasing and settling. I do think I would enjoy baking under my eyes instead of just dusting a powder on top. I feel this would help take away some of that tackiness and extend the longevity.

How It Compares: While this concealer is good, it isn’t the best.

I got to give it up for this K-beauty brand. Etude House Big Cover Concealer impressed me. It brightened my under eyes and fully concealed my dark circles. And, it wore with very little creasing or settling. But, there’s a few downfalls to this concealer. The first being it doesn’t fully set down and stays a tacky finish. This can be fixed, but it requires a bit more work and needs to be baked to fully have a soft finish. Second, the shade range. This product only comes in nine shades and would definitely not match even a quarter of the skin tones out there. For these reasons, I can’t fully recommend it.

What I can recommend is this.

Easier to set with more colors to choose from and more accessible to buy, Maybelline Instant Age Rewind is still my pick for the standard drugstore concealer. This classic has been around the block a time or two, continuously proving itself to provide coverage, brighten, and a long wear. I enjoy that it sets to a natural finish that doesn’t require a powder on top. I can use it for those no-makeup makeup days and add coverage just where I need it without worrying about it slipping and sliding all over my face. Truly, this drugstore concealer is one of the best.

Is Etude concealer good?

From the United StatesI like the coverage, it matches my peachy pale skintone and covers up my rosacea. A little more thick than I love but blendable. I've scaled down my makeup routine significantly and only use this concealer as my base in the needed areas.

What is the best concealer to cover anything?
