The Audi A5 receives some updates and new features that come as standard or are available for the 2023 model year. Audi is reportedly looking to showcase itself as a leader in the luxury segment with its quality and technology in the 2023 lineup.

Some of the upgrades to the A5 model line include standard matrix-designed LED headlights. The Premium Plus trim on all A5 and S5 models include a Bang & Olufsen sound system with 3D sound. Now standard on the A5 Coupe, A5 Cabriolet, and A5 Sportback 45 is 18-inch 5-double-spoke design wheels. The Black optic package on the A5 Coupe and Sportback 45 now comes with more black features, such as the rear lip spoiler and exhaust tips. Similarly, the S5 Coupe and Sportback’s Black optic package in the Premium Plus and Prestige trims also now has a black rear lip spoiler and exhaust tips, as well as black Audi rings and badges.

The A5 Cabriolet now has an S line exterior, gray oak natural wood inlays, illuminated door sill inlays, and sport front seats as standard. The S5 gets an available Audi Sport interior package with a black interior, red contrast stitching, and RS carbon inlays. Lastly, there have been color updates. Chronos gray takes the place of Quantum gray for the A5 Coupe, Sportback 45, Cabriolet, and S models. Ascari blue is added while Sonoma green and Turbo blue are removed from the RS 5 Coupe and Sportback.

Despite there being nine models in the A5 lineup, there are only three powertrain options. The A5 Coupe S line, A5 Sportback 40, A5 Sportback 45, and A5 Cabriolet S line all share a 2.0-liter, 4-cylinder engine with an S tronic transmission. The RS 5 Coupe and RS 5 Sportback both share a 2.9-liter, 6-cylinder engine with a Tiptronic transmission. Finally, the S5 Coupe, S5 Sportback, and S5 Cabriolet share a 3.0-liter, 6-cylinder engine with a Tiptronic transmission.

Which safety features come standard or available is going to depend on the model, trim level, and package chosen by the consumer. For instance, the A5 and S5 both now have adaptive cruise control as a part of the Convenience package.

Pricing & Release Date

No release dates have been mentioned, though it is reasonable to think that the 2023 A5 may be available for purchase by the end of the year. There are many different models in the A5 lineup, so it’s not surprising that the pricing has a wide range with an MSRP that starts at $46,200 and goes up to $76,200.

As a luxury sedan, the 2023 A5 may face off with competitors such as the Genesis G80, BMW 5-Series, Cadillac CT5-V, Tesla Model S, Mercedes-Benz E-Class, and Volvo S90.

The 2023 A5 model lineup gets updates to the standard features and optional package. The Black optic plus package and Bang and Olufsen speakers create a unique visual and audio space. Audi Sport interior package is available in the Audi S5 which adds a sporty feel to the interiors. The Audi RS5 adds new color to its collection while deleting 2 of its colors. The matrix design LED headlights to come as standard in all A5 models for the 2023 model year. Audi A5 and S5 will also get the convenience package which adds adaptive cruise control to the cars.

The 2023 Audi A5, Audi S5, and Audi RS5 receive updates to their standard features and optional package. The new changes to the A5 model lineup include 18-inch 5-double-spoke design wheels features on the A5 Coupe, A5 Sportback, and A5 Cabriolet. The Bang and Olufsen sound systems with 3D sound are now standard on the Premium Plus trim for all A5 and S5 vehicles. The Black optic plus package on the A5 Coupe and Sportback 45 features more black elements than the 2022 Audi A5 models with the addition of a rear black lip spoiler and exhaust tips. The 2023 Audi A5 Coupe, Sportback 45, A5 Cabriolet, and S models get a new Chronos Gray color which replaces the Quantum Gray color. The RS5 Coupe and Sportback gets an Ascari Blue color and eliminates Sonoma Green and Turbo Blue. 

The 2023 S5 model line also gets an updated optional package. The S5 Coupe and S5 Sportback models receive the black optic plus package which replaces the black optic package. The updated black optic plus package for S5 Coupe and S5 Sportback adds a black rear lip spoiler, Audi rings, badges, and exhaust tips on the Premium Plus and Prestige trims. Audi A5 and S5 will also get the convenience package which adds adaptive cruise control to the cars. The S5 also gets the Audi Sport interior package which is available only on select models. This includes a black interior with red stitching and RS Carbon inlays.

The updates for the RS5 Coupe and Sportback gets an Ascari Blue color and eliminates Sonoma Green and Turbo Blue. Audi also added a Competition package to the RS5 Coupe and Sportback for an additional price of $16,100. The Competition package adds a new exterior finish and performance enhancements. The top speed of this car increases to 180 mph with this package. Even without the optional Dynamic Plus Package, the RS5 Sportback is one of the fastest V6 engine cars with a top speed of 155 mph.

The pricing for the A5 Coupe S line 45 TFSI Quattro starts with the Premium trim which is priced at $46,200, Premium Plus trim at $51,800, and Prestige trims at $55,950. This is a $200 price increase over the 2022 model and the Audi A5 is one of the cheapest Audi a person can buy. The pricing for the A5 Sportback 45 TFSI Quattro starts with the Premium trim which is priced the same as the A5 Coupe S line 45 TFSI Quattro on the Premium and Premium Plus Trims. The Prestige trim is priced at $56,250. The A5 Cabriolet 45 TFSI Quattro prices start with the premium trim at $52,900, Premium Plus trim at $58,500 and Prestige trim at $63,500. The price has gone up by $700 over the 2022 model and the Audi A5 cabriolet is one of the cheapest convertibles a person can buy. The A5 lineup is powered by a 2.0-liter Inline-4 engine.

The Pricing for the S5 Coupe starts with the Premium trim which is priced at $55,300, Premium Plus trim priced at $59,800 and the Prestige trim is priced at $63,900. The pricing for the S5 Sportback is the same as the S5 coupe on the Premium and Premium Plus trims. The Prestige trim of the S5 Sportback is priced at $64,200. The S5 Cabriolet Premium trim is priced at $63,400, Premium Plus trim is priced at $67,900 and Prestige trim is priced at $72,000. The S5 is powered by a 3.0-liter V6 engine. The RS5 models are available in Coupe and Sportback body types and are priced at $75,900 and $76,200 respectively. The RS5 is powered by a 2.9-liter V6 engine. The Audi A5, S5, and RS5 are mechanically the same as the previous model year.

The EPA estimated fuel economy figures of the Audi A5 Coupe and A5 Sportback are 24 mpg in the city, 31 mpg on the highway, and 27 mpg combined. The fuel economy of the A5 Cabriolet is 23 mpg in the city, 30 mpg on the highway, and 26 mpg combined. The S5 Coupe and S5 Sportback’s fuel economy figures are 21 mpg in the city, 30 mpg on the highway, and 24 mpg combined. The S5 Cabriolet returns 21 mpg in the city, 28 mpg on the highway, and 23 mpg combined. The Audi RS5 returns 18 mpg in the city, 25 mpg on the highway, and 21 mpg combined. The availability of Audi Q7 AND SQ7 at the dealerships is yet to be announced. The major competitors for Audi A5 are the BMW 4 Series and Mercedes-Benz C class.
