2022 Yamaha YZF-R7: A Brand New Super TwinBrand new for Yamaha’s 2022 lineup is the 2022 YZF-R7. After failing to catch up with Euro-5 regulations, Yamaha decided to completely scrap one of their best-selling motorcycles of all time: the Yamaha YZF R6 (an inline-four beast that was the perfect stepping stone for intermediate and advanced riders before graduating to maximum R1 performance). After a brief period of silence, Yamaha finally announced that they would be taking their CP2 mill borrowed from the highly successful MT-07 and would be translating it into a new supersport model dubbed “the YZF-R7”. Although it takes a slightly different approach to the supersport formula by offering a two-cylinder engine instead of the typical four that are usually found in bikes of this nature, Yamaha still checks all the boxes when it comes to power output and performance. The 689cc CP2 engine with A&S clutch provides a torque-heavy output perfect for powering you out of corners on both the track and street. 74 horsepower and 50 lb-ft of torque ensure that this new Japanese model can compete with the likes of its rivals in this newly burgeoning super-twin market. Including fully-adjustable inverted 41 mm front forks, ABS, radial-mount front brake calipers, lightweight 10-spoke wheels, and even an optional quick shift system – this new model is sure to leave a good impression on the middleweight motorcycle community. As with all models in Yamaha’s R-Series, the R7 also comes in a limited edition colorway for 2022 in the form of the “World GP 60th Anniversary Edition”. The 2022 Yamaha YZF-R7 starts at $8,999 USD / $10,799 CAD On this page: we’ve curated specs, features, news, photos/videos, etc. so you can read up on the new 2022 Yamaha YZF-R7 in one place.
