2023 Navara

Nissan and Premcar are expanding the Warrior line of products in Australia with the new Navara SL Warrior that’s backed up by a full factory warranty. The rugged Aussie-tuned variant of the Japanese pickup slots below the Navara Pro-4X Warrior as an entry-level proposal for those who prioritize off-road capabilities.

The truck is based on the SL dual-cab trim of the AU-spec Nissan Navara, but introduces a series of styling and chassis upgrades. The goal of the Melbourne-based development team was to make it as comfortable on the road and as capable off the beaten track as the Pro-4X Warrior, at a more accessible price point.

Starting with the exterior, the Navara SL Warrior is distinguished by the metal bullbar with integrated LEDs and winch compatibility, protecting the front end. Underneath, the pickup doesn’t get the fancy LED headlights of the Pro-4X but the halogen units of the SL trim. There is also Navara-branded underbody protection painted in black, and Warrior stickers on the profile. At the back there is a towbar, utilizing the pickup’s 3,500 kg (7,716 pounds) braked towing capacity.

A new set of 17-inch alloy wheels shod in Cooper Discoverer All Terrain AT3 tires (272/70/R17) provide with greater traction off-road, with plastic bolt-on fender add-ons covering the extra width and bringing

More importantly, the locally tuned suspension is lifted by 40 mm (1.6 inches), resulting in a ground clearance of 260 mm (10.2 inches). This has a positive effect on the approach angle which is increased to 36 degrees (up from 32), while the departure angle stands at 19 degrees (down from 19.8) despite the addition of the tow bar. Premcar’s suspension features new springs with revised rates for “more front-end support and less body roll”, plus new dampers and jounce bumpers for “better compliance, sound insulation and reduced float when towing or carrying a load”.

Inside, Premcar added easy-to-clean all-weather floor mats, with the rest of the cabin remaining stock. As with the Navara SL, the Warrior gets the familiar 8-inch infotainment touchscreen found in Nissan’s older products, a 7-inch screen in the analogue instrument cluster, manual air-conditioning, a six-speaker stereo system, reversing camera, and USB ports for charging.

Under the bonnet lies the stock twin-turbo 2.3-liter diesel engine producing 188 HP (140 kW / 190 PS) and 450 Nm (332 lb-ft) of torque that is powering all the AU-spec Navaras. Power is transmitted to all four wheels through either a six-speed manual or a seven-speed automatic gearbox.

The Nissan Navara SL Warrior starts from $58,000 AUD ($40,316 USD) with a manual gearbox and from $60,500 AUD ($42,054 USD) with an automatic. This makes it $11,400 AUD ($7,924 USD) more expensive than the regular Navar SL, but $9,490 AUD ($6,597 USD) cheaper than the flagship Navara Pro-4X Warrior. The pickup is expected to reach Australian showrooms in August.

More refreshments are coming our way, the 2023 Nissan Navara is almost ready. Navara is one of the top-selling pickups not just in recent years. Since its introduction in 1985, Navara has been one of the best-looking and performing trucks on the market. The new Navara did not only look good, but it also worked and performed quite well. It kept pace and often won against mighty manufacturers like Ford, GM, and Ram.

This Nissan midsize truck didn’t have the pedigree of a pickup but soon after Navara was released, Nissan was a name well known in the pickup game. This mid-size pickup is getting a much-needed refresh. After several years on the road, its styling is getting a bit outdated. The technology used is becoming obsolete. And the powertrains are improving at a fast pace and now there are excellent options to improve the 2023 Nissan Navara.

We are still uncertain what the extent of the announced changes is. But hopefully, Nissan pays attention to what its fans have been raving about. If they continue on the same path and keep their track record, they will manage to outperform their competitors with ease. Let us dig deeper into the review and see what is in store for us with the new 2023 Nissan Navara.

Interior

Nissan does need to up their game a bit when it comes to interior design. There are fine-looking cabins on the market and we all know how trucks are not just for work anymore. People tend to use them for their everyday agenda or simply prefer the overall style of a truck.

Anyway, you put it, the interior needs changing. Starting with the seats. They must not look like the racing ones and feel like ones. No one is going to buy a truck to race it, we think at least. Making them better cushioned and giving them lumbar support are needed. No one likes having a stiff back after a long drive. Making seats as comfortable as possible is a sure way to win the hearts of drivers.

Also if they are heated and ventilated that would help a lot. No one likes their back getting sweaty and sticking to the seat. The instrument panel could be more dashing. Now it is simply bland and doesn’t scream luxury. Giving it some chrome accents or perhaps even wooden details would do wonders for the 2023 Nissan Navara. Air vents look like they are 15 years old and need to be redesigned. There are a few buttons and knobs on the panel as well as the steering wheel. This means the minimalistic look is not predominant. Also having buttons on the steering wheel will keep the driver focused on what is in front.

This improves the safety aspect of the 2023 Nissan Navara. The dashboard is all digital and also helps safety since this way it is much easier to track everything. Adding a heads-up display would also help and is a nice step towards the future. There is an infotainment unit on the panel, hopefully, it is bigger than 10 inches. This would allow the back row of passengers to enjoy the fun as well. We are still uncertain which cabs will be available but we know they are all full of four doors.

Safety

There are cameras all around the truck so you can get out of tight spots with ease, it also makes parking seem like a breeze. We would definitely like to see more drivers and software added. Things like pedestrian detection, lane change alert, collision alert, and automatic brakes are literal lifesavers. Nissan has their own driver aid artificial intelligence and hopefully, we find an even more improved version in the 2023 Nissan Navara.

Hands-free driving is all the rage nowadays and hopefully, Nissan delivers on buyers’ wishes. We already saw GM and Ford implement their SuperCruise and BlueCruise. These systems allow drivers to unwind behind the wheel, but not sleep. They can take you down 200000 miles of pre-mapped interstate road. But still, you have to keep an eye out on the road ahead. It is better to be safe than sorry. Adding ambient lighting is also another way of improving luxury in the cabin.

Exterior

On the outside, not much is changing. The body dimensions and the overall look are kept the same. Wheels are 19 inches with the option of getting bigger with different trims. Bumpers are somewhat implemented into the body and not too prominent which gives the truck a sleek look.

The brand new 2023 Nissan Navara has a lightweight mesh at the front to let air under the hood. The cargo bed is still 5.5 feet with a brand new tailgate that has many options

The Warrior is coming to Australia only. It is developed by Premcar and it is an off-roading beast, and looks much more aggressive than the regular Navara. With bigger bumpers and beefier tires it has skied for cargo on top of the truck. The headlight design is changed as well and there are 2 tiers of lights.

Ride height is also increased in order to get ground clearance and don’t get stranded. Direct competition would be the Ford Ranger of course. Not a lot is known at this point but we are eagerly waiting for more news to surface about this version of the 2023 Nissan Navara.
